bit about our Park - We are situated high up overlooking
the Somerset Levels, because of this we can not & will not ever
flood. The ground is in general 8" of top soil and then onto
White Lias Rock, therefore we drain extremely well. Even with all
the rain the whole country has been experiencing lately, for our ground
we still reccommend you bring 'Rock Pegs' (but we do sell them if
you forget).
What can our site offer you ?
Fancy a change in those Dark Cold Winter Months - Then why not visit the Park in October/November and witness the spectacular of the Somerset Carnivals. These illuminated processions that take place throughout the area are a sight to be seen and can only be likened to 'Blackpool on Wheels'. See dates on our Events list Dogs on the Park - Dogs are most welcome on our park & we do not charge for them. However, we do have 2 basic common sense rules. 1 - Dogs MUST be kept on a lead at all times whilst on the main park. 2 - Owners must pick up after them (yellow bins are provided around the park). NEW for Dogs 2007 ---- whilst you are on holiday you may wish to visit one of the many attractions in the area that you feel is not suitable for taking your dog to, or it may be a hot day & better for the dog than to be left in a hot car. Further up the lane to the park is an excellent Kennels run by Dave, Tina & family. We have negotiated a special rate with them, whereby you can leave the dog for just the day. There are a total of 31 holiday homes at Bowdens Crest, some of which are privately owned. The Park has a selection of 4 to 8 berth caravans. All Caravans are fully equipped with mains electricity, gas cookers, fridges, Heating, TV, Microwaves, All cooking utensils, Pillows, Duvets, Blankets, WC and shower. Everything you need to make your stay at Bowdens Crest a holiday to remember is provided. Please remember to bring your personal belongings & Towels. Dogs are allowed in the caravans, however we do have 1 Luxury 3 bed roomed & 2 standard 2 bed roomed caravans that have been kept PET FREE for those who have allergies to pet hair. Our Camping / Touring area is open plan with
electric hookup's around the edge and none-hookup pitches in the
centre. The whole area is set on White Lias Stone and therefore
drains extremely well, and it is advisable to bring some rock pegs
with you (we also sell them in the shop). Because we are so high
up overlooking the Somerset Levels, there is no need to worry about
flooding. This area is suitable for Touring Caravans, Tents, Trailer
Tents & Motorhomes.
The
new combined licensed bar & kitchen opened early 2004 and provides
visitors with a place to relax, enjoy a drink, meet other visitors
to the park, a chance to talk over events of the day and perhaps
even tell some of those fisherman's tales! Murphy's Kitchen serves
meals to suit all tastes and diets, from a full English breakfast
to snacks and full evening meals including Steak Meals and various
specials including Vegetarian dishes. Special Occassions can also
be catered for, so why not order a favorite meal for your partners
birthday or an anniversary!! If your visiting relatives or friends
in the area, the change in our License means you can invite them
along for a drink or meal but this must be pre-booked.
